Things I Never Knew (TINK)
We’ve all heard this:
God says “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” Revelation 22:13
Five or six years ago, I taught an introductory Greek class to my homeschooled children. There, I learned that the first two letters of the Greek alphabet are “Alpha” and “Beta”….and that’s where we get our word “alphabet”. Duh. Am I the only one that didn’t know this?? (Originally from the first two Hebrew letters “Alef” and “Bet”.)
Of course, I also learned that “Alpha” is the first letter in the Greek alphabet and “Omega” is the last letter in that alphabet. Ohhhhhh!!!!! (lightbulb moment!!) God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Literally, He is the first and the last!
Once again I am amazed at how God uses something so simple as letters to explain things to us. God is essentially the first letter of the alphabet and the last letter of the alphabet, and all of the letters in between. That makes the idea that He is the Word even more profound since words are made of letters! The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us! Hallelujah, have an amazing letter-filled day!
